Men and Women of Peace

The Christian life is full of many burdens. We are speak often of our burden to communicate the gospel to a dying world, to feed starving people, to aid the poor and sick, to love without judgment or reservation, to serve one another, to live holy lives, to bring glory to God the Father through Jesus Christ. We live, as believers in Jesus, with hope and joy…and burden. However, we must be careful when we live to deal correctly with each of these. Our hope is not in our own good works or ability, but is in the LORD Jesus Christ – in Him alone we rest our hope. Our joy is not founded upon the blessings we have received or upon the material life we lead. Our joy finds its source in our redemption through faith in Jesus Christ. Our burden should also not find its place upon our shoulders or backs. Our burden are to be cast upon the LORD. Just as He is our single source of hope and joy, the LORD is also our source of peace and rest. We have be instructed and permitted to bring all of our burdens and anxieties to Him. Our Savior who is able to save us from our sins is surely able to rescue us from our burden as well.
